Estoy muy contenta de encontrarme con todos vosotros en la histórica pero también moderna y dinámica ciudad de Bilbao para celebrar la
25ª exposición y simposio de la Confederación Europea de Sociedades de Acuarelistas (ECWS) gracias a la iniciativa de la Agrupación
Vasca de Acuarelistas (AVA) .
Esta es la segunda vez que los artistas de nuestra Confederación se reúnen en esta ciudad dado que AVA ya acogió el simposio en 2006
como muestra del activismo artístico de la asociación acuarelista vasca.
La ECWS es una importante red de artistas europeos apasionados por la técnica de la pintura a la acuarela. La confederación se inició en
1998 por voluntad de las asociaciones de acuarelas italiana y belga y hoy cuenta con catorce asociaciones de acuarelas de Bélgica,
Dinamarca, Estonia, Finlandia, Francia, Alemania, Islandia, Irlanda, Italia, Noruega, Polonia, España y Suecia. y casi 5.000 acuarelistas,
profesionales y aficionados. Nuestra confederación promueve la acuarela a nivel internacional y, con este fin, las sociedades miembro se
turnan para organizar anualmente una exposición y un simposio. El simposio anual es una gran oportunidad para encontrarnos en
persona, compartir experiencias artísticas y fortalecer amistades y descubrir diferentes lugares y culturas. Nuestra confederación da la
bienvenida a nuevas colaboraciones y está interesada en establecer relaciones con las asociaciones de acuarela más importantes e
históricas en el extranjero.
Mi más sincero agradecimiento a la Presidenta de AVA, Sra. Isabel Sanjuan, y a su equipo por la realización de esta exposición en lugares
tan relevantes y por la oportunidad de conocer la ciudad y la cultura vasca. También quiero expresar mi agradecimiento a todos los
simpatizantes, patrocinadores y colaboradores.

I am very glad to meet all of you in the historical but also modern and dynamic city of Bilbao to celebrate the 25th exhibition and
symposium of the European Confederation of Watercolour Societies (ECWS) thanks to the initiative of the Agrupación Vasca de
Acuarelistas (AVA).
This is the second time that the artists of our Confederation gather in this city given that AVA already hosted the symposium in 2006 as to
demonstrate the artistic activism of the Basque watercolour association.
The ECWS is a major network of European artists passionate of the watercolour painting technique. The confederation was launched in
1998 by the will of the Italian and the Belgian watercolour associations and today it counts fourteen watercolour associations from Belgium,
Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Poland, Spain and Sweden and almost 5,000 watercolourists,
professional and amateurs. Our confederation promotes watercolour internationally and to this aim member-societies take turns in
organizing an exhibition and a symposium annually. The annual symposium is a great opportunity to meet in presence, to share artistic
experiences and strengthen friendships and to discover different places and cultures. Our confederation welcomes new collaborations and
it is interested in establishing relationships with the outmost and historical watercolour associations overseas.
My sincere thanks to the President of AVA, Mrs. Isabel Sanjuan, and her team for the realization of this exhibition in such relevant
locations and for the opportunity to discover the city and the Basque culture. I also want to express my gratitude to all the supporters,
sponsors and collaborators.
