The Basque Society of Watercolorists (Agrupación Vasca de Acuarelistas – AVA) takes over from the German Watercolor Society and will be in charge of organizing in 2022, in the city of Bilbao, the 25th edition of the International Watercolor Symposium to which we are pleased to invite all the ECWS member-societies.
Our Society, with 77 years of trajectory, since it was founded in 1945, organized the Symposium of 2006 and the gained experience is being the main baggage to carry out this next Symposium where watercolor will be the protagonist serving us accomplish a successful gathering with all the members of the European Confederation of Watercolor Societies.
Bilbao has very favorable characteristics to host an event like this, since it is a medium-sized city with a very special scenery provided by its long history and culture. It preserves its Old Town and has a modern city expansion area, being the interaction of both what gives this unique character to the city. It is very comfortable and easy to tour, it is crossed by an estuary with an industrial background that has been reinvented as the main artery of the city.
Our city has made a strong commitment to art and culture and has a network of very interesting museums, among which we want to highlight the emblematic Guggenheim and the Museum of Fine Arts.
Using these signs of identity and this cultural background, we have developed the Symposium program that you can see below.

MASTERCLASS
The masterclasses will be taught by three artists of great trajectory who belong to the same generation.
They represent an example of how watercolor can be worked from different starting points, using completely different themes and with absolutely personal results.

Registration is closed from May 31st .
The regisration in the symposium includes:
